Sorry I hadn’t updated this sooner, but …
Several people referred to the reduced efficiency (and fire hazard) of lint build-up in the ducts. My Dryer is right next to an outside wall, and the “Duct” is a single metal flexible piece which makes a 90 degree turn then directly out through the wall. I did check it, and it was almost as clean as new. Thanks for the suggestions, though. It looks like a heating element may be failing after seven years. For now, I suspect running a second cycle may be cheaper than repair costs.
