[SML] Whole Digest quotes

I wonder - and this is a question, not a speculation - whether replying 
via some smartphone mail apps makes it impossible for people to see 
what, if anything, they're quoting?

A particular person in my workplace quotes entire email threads in his 
one-line responses, but swears "it doesn't look like that on the phone," 
and he can't figure out how to fix it.

Of course, he's somewhat ... technologically dim, but still ... it 
*could* be the tech.
