[SML] proper batten clamping device for pipe-downs

As the titles sez, I'm looking to hang a pipe vertically from a batten
to create a pipe-down position for a couple of lighting instruments.

I've seen this done with Rota-locks, but I'm not sure if that's kosher
and it feels a bit kludgey to me.  I haven't been able to find a spec
sheet that gives a vertical load limit, so that supports my kludgey
assumption.  (Though I did see one reseller quoted as "great for
dropping a pipe down from a lighting grid," but no vertical load specs
supplied.)

What's your favorite pipe clamp for piping down for ladders or
pipe-downs / tail-downs?
