Similar in concept are the old ECONOLITE lamps (Think those are what
Pat was Thinking of) that have a drum with slits/holes that spins
based on the heat rising from the lamp. . .

but the execution there is based on the paint pattern on the shades,
so not exactly any help to you at all, but i enjoy my "fountain of
youth" lamp made by them. . .
