If your printer cartridge replaces the print head and it doesn't leak,
there shouldn't be anything it can do to the printer.

Note that some printers have a second mode for when the don't recognize
the cartridge as theirs or detect a refill.  Things like printing in
lower resolution and "cleaning" the head more which just dumps ink into
an absorptive pad buried in the printer.
