We have two printers at home. My wife's is a wireless printer, with a
complicated control panel, and four separate cartridges. It does not
replace the prnt head, and changing the cartridges is a surprisingly
long and tedious operation, not to say expensive. It is noisy, and
occasionally temperamental, to the extent that my wife sometimes
e-mails me things to print for her!

Mine is a rather simpler USB printer, using only two cartridges, each
of which contains a print head. It has three buttons on the control
panel; Power on, scan and copy. The snag is that I cannot buy third
party cartridges, but am stuck with ordering them on line from the
manufacturer, at some cost.

We have a third printer at our house in France. I can buy replacement
cartridges at a largish local supermarket.

All three produce good work. The one in France does the most work, as
I print out the Times crossword every day.
