Technical Director for Duluth Playhouse. Duluth, MN.
Duluth Playhouse, Duluth, MN
Duluth Playhouse, a community-based theatre, seeks a full time
Technical Director to join the production staff. The Technical
Director will work closely with the Playhouse on its season. The ideal
candidate will have strong communication skills, ability to work
quickly in high-pressure situations, and have a positive attitude.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with the artistic director and production manager to manage all
aspects in the planning, build, load-in, tech, maintenance of scenery,
and technical needs.
Create time and material estimates, costs, schedules, and other
documentation as required.
Technical design, engineering, and rigging of scenery.
Familiarity using V ectorworks or AutoCAD
Collaborate with artistic director, production manager, and director
to realize the production’s design within budget
and on time.
Coordinate schedules for build and load-in with related production departments.
Oversee load-ins and attend technical rehearsals.
Maintain Quality and Standards of Duluth Playhouse
Ensure a safe and workable environment for staff and performers
Other duties as assigned.
A minimum of 3 years professional theatre experience in technical
direction, or professional experience equivalency
Extensive knowledge and experience in scenery construction techniques,
time and material estimating, mechanical design, and stage rigging.
Ability to manage a professional shop.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to multi-task multiple projects, delegate work, and be
very detail oriented
Work as a team member and maintain a positive attitude
