You can strobe a VL1000TS/I as quick as the lamp dimmer will respond.
VL1000 AS/I won't strobe to any good effect; the dowser wheel doesn't
travel fast enough to strobe.

I don't have experience with the VL1100s, but I imagine they'd be the
same.  Ditto with the VL1000 with onboard dimmers.
