I would expand that a bit to include stopping on-line payments at x hours
before showtime. This is only necessary if reserving tickets for paying at the
door is allowed.

At the local theatre that uses on-line software, I think they do so at two
hours before showtime.

The box office then handles all additional transactions using the seating
status that was downloaded to the local PC right after on-line sales were
terminated.
