[SML] tech table(s) extension power

Local safety guy was by during tech. He was there because we had approval for candles on stage and he wanted to see what we were doing. He didn't like the multi outlets at the various tech tables----lights, sound, sm, director, set, costume, props etc… Each table has a power strip attached to a longer extension cord back to wall outlets. He says we shouldn't be attaching multis to single cord… we are not daisy chaining power strips. So how do we not do what we did or is he overreaching? We are safe (low power draw) but perhaps not legal? I haven't really found a 50' or 100' fused multi. ( not with more than three outlets) Now that everyone has computers, little lites, and this and that electrical device even our small techs will start looking like broadway-----not really but we sometimes have near 10 separate "tables"---nowhere near brdway and 40 or 50 computers but……

So what's wrong with an internal circuit breaker multi plugged into a properly sized extension cord in this type of temporary wiring situation?

I assume orchestra lights would have same problem? Although we have those cords with moulded outlets strung along the way there still seems to never be enough outlets in the pit and way too many extension cords
