Something like some of the bolts that came on my milling machine? USA
threads but metric socket heads?

For threads they have sewing thread glued to the shaft? :)

I hadn't realized how nice it would be having a lathe until I had
something that needed to be threaded and I didn't care if it was SAE or
Metric or old British...just measure and set the gearbox appropriately.

Yesterday I made a strange shaped T-nut for a customer's project, 0-80
thread, 0.050" thick, brass. A little time in the shop and it's done
and ready to test-fit in the 3D printed prototype.

Oh yes, we now have a second 3D printer but it's not quite assembled
yet. We're setting it up for dual high-temperature print heads so have
to modify the stock printer as we assemble it. Still waiting for the
"graphics card" water cooling parts to show up for the extruder motors.
