For those who haven't been following the bruhaha. Marriott Opryland
was blocking the use of wifi via personal hotspots. Presumably so they
could sell their wifi service at $1100 per day. Someone filed a
complaint with the FCC and they got slapped with a $600,000 fine.
Marriott and a hotel industry lobbying group officially asked the FCC to
rule on when and where such blocking could be deployed, with the
putative purpose of protecting their networks from malicious hackers.

The FCC released it's ruling on the marriott wifi blocking matter.
WHat they did was essentially jamming, and anyone else who tries to do
this will get "...substantial monetary penalties."
