[SML] Dimming a 24vac load

Why does it need to be AC? Incandescent lamps should work with DC, as
well. Presuming the lamps are not terribly costly, try connecting one
to 24VDC and see what happens. If it works, then a simple DC PWM dimmer
will do a fine job.
