[SML] Networking - light board and sound board on same WAP?

While I you can certainly put the two devices on the same WAP, I
wouldn't. Not only would our Sound Supervisor never agree to it, I
always think its better to keep separate systems separate. You never
know what conflicts are going to arise, or cross talk. Plus, once you
add in networked servers for audio and video.

Our Sound wireless network is connected to the sound board, the Q Lab
machines, the sound archive computer, and the internet. Our Lighting
wireless network is connected to the EOS, the RPU, the dimmers, all
the various ETCNet nodes, and any number of laptops/computers
connected during tech. I'd never want [nor does ETC recommend] having
the ETCNetwork connected to the internet.

If you do do it, just make sure you don't have two devices being DHCP
servers. That can cause more problems that are harder to track.

Actually, in terms of just ETCNet, routers are actually really easy to
install in the network. That's what we use, and I've put into other
theatres that I've traveled to. Just make sure its just a device at
the end of a run and not in the middle somewhere, and you'll be fine.
