The ones I use frequently are little more than an MR16 birdie with a
metal plate in the color slot (usually a metal electrical box cover
cut to size) with a hole drilled for a 1/2" EMT conduit fitting, with
a short (3" or so) piece of conduit to collectivize the strands of
mono-filament and keep them all parallel/together to pick up light
from the source. Gaff tape is all you need to keep the strands
together, if you wanted to get really fancy you could use some hot
glue to seal it off good.
