The Milwaukee Repertory Theater, a LORT A, B, & D company, is seeking
a Shop Carpenter/Welder. Under general direction of the Technical
Director, this position will primarily work in the Scene Shop as a
Carpenter and Welder building scenery and automation equipment for The
Rep's 4-venue, 12 production season. The Shop Carpenter/Welder will
also work as part of the Resident Crew to install and strike scenery,
lights, sound, and props in all of the theaters.  Resident Crew
members may be required to program automation, video, lights, and
sound as well as run performances during the course of a 4-venue, 12
play production season. As a member of the Resident Crew, you will be
asked to work in all venues and the carpentry shop doing a variety of
duties and tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Collaborate with TD, Master Carpenter, ATD, designers and
all production departments to fulfill the Directors vision for each
production

·         Fabricate Scenery for Rep originating Productions

·         Willingness to learn and expand capabilities in all areas of
professional development

·         Collaborate with the TD, ATD, Master Carpenter, and Paint
Charge to develop build plans and devise construction techniques

·         Assist as needed with all aspects of build, load-in, tech,
maintenance, and technical needs for all productions and events

·         Assist with organization, maintenance, and inventory for the
Scene Shop

·         Perform all job duties in a safe manner at all times



Skills and Qualifications:

·         5 years professional experience as a Scenic Carpenter and/or Welder

·         Experience fabricating stage automation equipment and control systems

·         Demonstrated knowledge of scenery construction techniques
with wood,              steel, and aluminum

·         Experience with standard theatrical rigging practices

·         Ability to read and implement working drawings

·         Ability to MIG weld in both Steel and Aluminum

·         Strong verbal communication skills

·         Adaptability in all situations

·         Ability to work as a team member and always present a
positive attitude

·         Must be able to manage multiple projects, maintain
organization, and be detail oriented

·         Demonstrated knowledge of standard theater/shop safety
procedures, and  commitment to safe working procedures

·         Ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted and over 50 lbs with assistance



Full benefits are included through the Collective Bargaining Agreement
between IATSE Local 18 and the Milwaukee Repertory Theater; membership
in IATSE is required within 30 days of start date.
