[SML] Spike tape

Is this spike tape actual gaffers tape like permacel or is it some
random brand of colored duct tape or something else? My question is
that if gaff tape is pulling up floor finish and hunks of wood from the
floor, you really have a floor problem. Possibly dry rot or termites?

When was this floor installed? Is it some kind of fancy sprung floor or
just solid wood? I think you need to get in someone who knows wood
floor systems to take a serious look at it. Or is this tape some kind
of super high strength adhesive tape that you need to get rid of.

Putting down more coats of polyurathane is a bandaid that will
temporarily halt the problem. A longer term solution to get you a few
years down the road is to lay a masonite deck on top and replace that
every so often.
