What I have done when trying to advetise for my local community theatre
(here in Iowa), I put something on the group's website (Facebook) then send
press release to the local news outlets. We also have been trying to build
an email list so as to contact people about auditions and performances.

Things that effect ticket sales are location, the repution of the group, and
the types of shows performed. After one bad show, it might take 5 more
productions to get people back in the seats.

I may not be good at it, but at least I try.

Subject: [SML] OT: Promoting theatre

Taking off my “Tech” hat for a moment, does anyone here know of any
podcasts, on-line forums or other idea exchanges for promoting theatre
productions, producing ticket sales and "putting bums in seats?”
Running the gamut of Community Theatre, High School and college Theatre,
concerts, circus and variety acts, and maybe even even commercial theatre -
I’d think a lot of folks would have an interest in the topic but I’m not
finding anything.
