Job Title:
Theatre Technician

The Theatre Department seeks a full-time Theatre Technician to join
our production team. This position will report to the Operations
Manager and work closely with the Theatre Production Manager, Dance
Production Manager and Sound and Media Supervisor. The Theatre
Technician will prepare performance venues and equipment for
rehearsals, classes and public events, and may assist other Staff in
the presentation of selected events.

Responsibilities

Work with Production Managers to install lighting systems and
equipment, and with the Sound and Media Supervisor to install systems
and equipment
Oversee/execute production elements for lectures and outside events
Provide support for technical rehearsals and performances
Supervise student and professional crews
Assess the lighting needs of productions that do not have a Lighting
Designer, and assist artists in realizing a design using available
resources
Assist Theatre Technical Director with carpentry and scenic
installation if time permits

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required with professional theatre experience, or an
equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong competency with lighting and sound equipment
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to read and understand lighting and sound drafting and paperwork
Experience with Lightwright and Vectorworks and some carpentry
experience is highly desirable
