Well friends, I have stumbled into a BBQ joint called the Smoking Pig BBQ here on 4th St. In San Jose, and it is righteous! Smokers on site. Lovely tender juicy ribs, similarly tender pulled pork. Divine Mac and cheese. Dark Amber grade A honey to go on your cornbread. No sauce on the meat except what you put there yourself, which is good, because the sauces here are the low point. "Kansas City Hot" Sauce is fine, but too hot for me. "Carolina Sassy" Sauce is a mustard sauce that isn't my fave. The "Original Classic" Sauce is a sickly sweet syrup that would be more appropriate on top of a Snow Cone than on top of a rib. But this meat really doesn't need sauce. You can order Brisket either Lean, Fatty, or combo. One of the house specialties is "Wolf Turds", which are Jalapeños stuffed with cheese and sausage, then wrapped in Bacon and deep fried. I didn't have any, but they seemed to be very popular at the tables around me. I say give this place a try if you're in San Jose!
