I did not understand if this was temporary - for a production or
season - or a long term "permanent" modification, but if long term, I
think a couple of channels or heavy bar stock, and bent plates of
u-bolts - much like a connector strip hanger - would be a better
solution, especially if the top or main batten is rigged (versus dead
hung).
