There is also the theory that natural radiation particles, on rare 
occasion, can penetrate through a building, a cabinet, a circuit board 
and a chip to affect  a semi-conductor junction just so and cause it to 
change state.    At least that's what we'd blame for unexplainable 
transmutation of memory bits when I worked in the computer industry.

Learning how to use the panel in the rack is a very handy skill.
