That's simple.  If you used a pre-loaded gas cylinder to pull down the
blade and had a gun type sear to release it, then there wouldn't be any
parts to replace and after market sales of expensive cartridges would
disappear.

Unless, of course, you designed the arrangement to break the gas
cylinder or the release mechanism when it was triggered...
