Does that mean they are stopping production of everything else, or just stopping R&D on new incandescents?

The quality of incandescent (all types) bulbs will continue to decrease as the world moves away from them.  GE recently announced they are going to focus exclusively on LEDs.

Just had an interesting incident:

Campus utility workers were changing bulbs in my building.  A T-10 60w bulb, vertical in a socket, had the glass envelope separate from the screw-in base.  They pulled the base out from the reflector from above, and found no glass envelope.  About 1 second later, they located the envelope by the sound of the smash 60 below.
