Brigham 17 was Special Lavender (but most of use called it Surprise Pink). I just checked my Brigham swatch book. I could not find a Surprise Pink listed in their catalogue.

Back to history, I think it is an attempt to copy/improve an old Brigham gel. Many years ago I had their gel swatch book, but no longer. I think the number was 17, but I’m really not at all sure. It was, by the way, the best goto Lavender in the absence of other criteria. I think that R52 is a better approximation of the old Brigham color, but those memory banks are filled with dust. Neither R51 or R53 is the same, but R52 is my goto Lavender, in the absence of other criteria which may color my memory. On the other hand, you can sort lighting designers by their goto lavender.
