We recently picked up a Miller welder, Mig and stick capable, built into a medium-sized Pelican style case. can use gas or Flux core, very nice unit. I'd give you the model number, but I can't see the machine from Narita airport
The briefcase welder? Passport Plus, or something like that? I carried one of those on WarHorse... It sucked. Couldn't do 3/16" on a single pass. Couldn't drive it 240vac. The tank adaptor was finicky as hell. Totally unworthy of the Miller name, although the concept was nice. I hope you got an updated version...
Actually it is the Miller Multimatic 200. a serious machine 120 / 240 capable. though I have not run it, everyone who has has liked it.

I've got a little Lincoln 3200HD out in the shed, kitted out with a small bottle of Argon-CO2 blend for heavier work. If I had to do it over again, I'd've upgunned (literally) to a dual-voltage box that could take a spoolgun for welding aluminum. A name brand welder 140amp and up...
Get the gas tank and go MIG. Yes, you can weld fluxcore without, but you'll weld thicker metal more efficiently with gas than without. Plus you'll spend an hour cleaning the spatter up after welding flux. Gas is much cleaner.
