I do drafting for a living, and am probably the 1st generation that focused exclusively on doing it on a CAD station.  But, I do think my education should have included techniques like what Mr Parker is showing. Decades of CAD progress has not improved on using paper and pencil for preliminary ideas. And for many things, are still the best approach for the final product.
