[SML] Stanislightsky method?

Any body heard of this? From THE STAGE a British print and on line magazine: 
"Another successful method is the Stanislightsky method. This is where actors use the magic ‘if’ – and they have to play their whole scene as if it were taking place in the dark. Then as if it were taking place in the light. Stanislightsky believed that every word has a different meaning in the light and dark – and it’s only when you start playing with the different extremes of lights that actors start to truly understand their characters. This is why many productions are so dimly lit now – actors have been exploring Stanislightsky’s method."
