Dan
And I thought my budgets were low
You don’t mention if you have to do things like publicity or custodial costs. Your budgets are low but are you talking about a set budget, including the royalties, costume rentals? Do you have to pay musicians for the musical?
Our royalty budget for the 4 shows is $ 5,495
These amounts are what we typically spend on the set budget alone. Generally 3000 to 6000 $ for set
Here are some of our figures, I’d like to see what others spend
set $9,500
lighting $2,250
costumes $16,000 (we do large shows always 25+ cast members)
props $4,400
sound $1,400
total $33,550
This doesn’t include musical director, fight choreographer, video and publicity and a host of other productions.
And I thought we were scraping by.
Hope this gives you an idea, we had our friends at Sam Houston help us with a self study review and it was eye opening when we compared our meager budgets to what other schools in Texas spend for their shows.
Looking forward to see what others post
