[SML] iphone 7 audio stops when using lightning adapter

I don't have an iphone, so am not really familiar with them. However, I have
dancers shove them at me all the time. I use the headphone out and feed it
into the mixer.

Is it possible that the iphone has a track preview function that is enabled?
