If you need a 10,000 amp fuse, use a Halligan tool.  
Washington DC fire department demonstrated this experimentally when one of the firemen tried to trip the breaker on the DC subway third rail instead of walking all the way down to the emergency power off button at the end of the platform.  Circa 1979.
