My memories of West Hollywood include lots of Russian speakers.  To the
point of expensive (and back on topic), I have heard this joke about
Russian ostentation:

Russian #1: "Look at this fine tie I bought for $500. on Santa Monica
Boulevard."

Russian #2: "You idiot!  You could have bought the exact same tie for
$600. one street south!"
