Sounds to me like a cage that has build in adjustment would be a handy
thing for you. Much like a 35mm projector rack which allows you to dial
in the fine tuning of rotation (level), pan, and tilt with screws. I
expect that they are out there, I have not seen one for quite a while.

This has provided me with a huge amount of flexibility. For anything but straight on shots I would recommend getting a beefier mount. The Peerless unit I got has screw adjustments for pitch and yaw but when I try to tip the projector past 30 degrees its slips the threads from the weight. I would suggest getting something with a separate locking mechanism.
