Can anyone provide background or examples of this standard in practice?

The definition is provided as:
Lamp Scaffold means parallel as hereinafter defined.
Parallel. An elevated staging used to support lamps and auxiliary
equipment for the purpose of furnishing illumination.
It seems like the definition relates to catwalks and scaffolding
structures which are used for the purposes of hanging and operating
stage lighting equipment.
I found a google book reference, dated 1966 which included a
grandfather clause about structures built prior to 1946.
