[SML] Floor paint and/or sealer - MDF?

Ben,
Hardboard (Masonite) is High Density fiberboard and can be either Tempered
or Untempered, Tempered is stronger. I suspect that both the smoothness and
fact that the tempering is done with heated oil is  why it is so difficult
to get paint to hold.
MDF is medium density Fiberboard. It is inherently softer than Hardboard.
In my opinion MDF is only valid for a short run show floor and not a
permanent stage floor. I have seen tracks worn into MDF from casters in
just a few weeks.
