[SML] Old joke request

The story I heard many years ago... A tour company was taking a break at a Denny's in one of our southern states. During a lull in the conversation, the master carpenter said the only thing they left was to "hang the blacks." There was a sudden silence in the restaurant.

Larry,

Old guy from South Dakota

Having worked in a college setting for many years, and witnessed the shift in what was considered funny or 'blue"....I can say with certainty that any of these "jokes" or the unit of measure or double entendres are enough to get someone fired. It's a different world, and rightly so.

Both phrases made appearances in my world recently…

The other LD on a project is black and we actually had a good laugh over “hanging the blacks” in a stadium.

While on a site survey I referenced “breasting a pipe back” to our venue rep., who is female, had never heard the phrase, and was somewhat surprised to hear it.

What a world…

Breasting pipes is fun but measuring by RCH increments is frowned upon these days.

Hi Everyone

I hope someone here (with a better memory than mine) can help me.

Some years ago there was a joke going round about an SM/Production Manager discussing work to be done and one said “We must hang the blacks…”

I need the full joke to show some students that there is a difference between “normal” English and “Theatre” English.

Any similar jokes/stories will also be highly appreciated.

Answers to the list or directly to me please.

Best regards

Philip
