[SML] A less bulky Cable trough?

Is there such a thing as a less bulky cable trough?

They tend to be so tall with such a sharp incline that people trip over it more than the bare cable lying on the floor.
I'm suggesting they make a trough in the floor with the next remodeling but anyone got better ideas?

I wondered about making plywood "ramps" up to the trough, at least the incline would be so slight people wouldn't notice it IF I could get the beginning lip tapered enough.

Thoughts?
