[SML] lighting for video (from a live theatre background)

Hi Jeff

Thanks for that. I've got some 14s (not enough to convert for this purpose), but enough for a test at least. I had forgotten about them, and went straight to 19s in my head. Definitely not a useful option.

Your dance story: less flare in the house from the frost, less bounce off the architecture onto the audiences' faces. Interesting that it affected the dancers so much (but they do trip over a painted line, so I'm not entirely shocked).

Would 14 deg S4s work? We had a similar set up at one of the houses here in PDX. The FOH systems were 210deg but a bit too narrow to get an even wash unless frosted with R119, which did light up the house more than anyone liked. The new house electrician replaced them all gradually with 14deg, which didn’t exist when the room was refitted with S4s. They work quite well in there.
Funny story though, I tried using R132 instead of 119 and that also worked okay, but the director and the performers all complained that they couldn’t see the audience as well as they used to be able to in the curtain calls. This being a dance company I rarely used the front light except for bows, and they noticed the difference.
