[SML] Mechanism modeling software

In looking at the simple phone games that let you build a bridge or create a machine, I’m wondering if there is any software out there that lets you model mechanisms and see how they’d function with some kind of included physics modeling.  It would let us give students a means of testing machines of their design (Rube Goldberg-esque) virtually.

Any thoughts, leads or suggestions?
