[SML] Fire Alarm Impairment

High-rate-of-rise heat detectors is what I’ve always aimed to have in a theatre. We do Fire Watch in theatres slated for renovation.

Retrofitting could pay for itself in the long term with labour savings for fire watch.

Unfortunately what an AHJ’s will let you do is quite specific to the individual. If it were me I’d say no because flipping (back on) the switch requires action by a person and this elevates the life-safety risk.

I’ve heard the expression that the Fire Code is “written in blood”.

Spoke to my alarm company and the AHJ who agreed I could remove the smoke alarms in the areas affected by fog/haze and replace with rapid rise detectors' They were happy and it worked great. Worth looking into.
