[SML] box booms

Definitely fight!

I worked in a Arts Center where the main theatre was built into a circular building. So curved walls in dressing rooms, scene shop, rehearsal rooms (one which was a dance studio), etc etc.

I'm sure there are million of occasions where architects know "best", bahahaha

Good luck.

*sigh*

I've come to realize that architect's brains exist in some other ethereal plane. It astounds me how they can come up with designs that are simultaneously brilliant and unusable. The number of buildings I've worked in with gorgeous looks and moronic design features is sad. I've seen narrow public walkways with support columns that land right in the middle. Loading docks that can't be accessed by trucks because the parking lot has a large concrete island 10 feet in front of it. Another loading dock that has wonderful extra-tall doors to accommodate large items, but the hallway that connects the dock area to the stage has a regular 9' ceiling. Architectural lighting that looks beautiful but has no access to it, dooming the lamps to sit there and slowly die out. Bill, I'm sure you could write a book on the bad designs you've seen.

Yes, I would keep fighting for two reasons:

- The architect will never set foot in the building once it's finished and his final invoice is paid. However, the people who actually use the space every day will be stuck with whatever they were given.

- The money and ability to install things are relatively easy to come by during the design phase. Once the building is finished, the money will evaporate and any additions or changes will take an act of Congress to get done.

A slightly sad and embittered building user. *laugh*

So, group, should I keep insisting on a box boom lighting position or give up?
