The automotive industry has something they call "torque sticks" for use with
impact wrenches, that in theory yield enough elastically to only pass a
certain "final" torque to the other end.

I remain somewhat dubious -- it's still sending impulses to the lugnut which
can't be having zero effect. Plus, they're long and there would be very
little room to maneuver all that inside a truss. If you could even find
them in the right size...
