Thanks. I had agreed to teach as we went throughout the tech process. Design and programming only. No formal classes no lx hang or install. Etc etc. I've told them to keep my name on it. I was just put off by the "generous donor Scholarship" followed by $1600 housing fee. Sounded like a college founded by an ex president.

Bushka... you are not an Icehole, you are a Mench!
Did they talk to you about mentoring and teaching while you designed the show? Especially since they are advertising that as part of the program that:
"Students interested in tech theater will have the opportunity to participate in a Tech Intensive, learning and working with industry professionals, including lighting designer Herrick Goldman."
Pulling your name now would have little impact on the program or the students (no offense), but a big impact on your relationship with the college and the other staff. So in that respect to them you may make yourself the Icehole.
However, if they didn't make it clear in your contract or discussions that part of your responsibilities was mentoring a group of 15-26-year-olds but have now advertised it as such, you are kinda stuck and IMHO that is worthy of a conversation and perhaps a fee negotiation.
All of that said if you need resources towards teaching people how to be a lighting crew, give me a shout. I can dig out my old curriculum.
