Every once in a while, I'll pick up a cheap subscription to Family
Handyman.... but like every magazine these days, issues are
infrequent, very thin, and mostly ads for hearing aids, adult diapers,
and sensible shoes. But gone are the days of FH having articles and
drawings for sprawling decks, ADUs, and finished basements. Now the
magazine has pivoted to the crafting biz. How to use ribbon to spruce
up an old bulletin board, how to select the perfect color for
repainting your daughter's old desk, three ways to breathe life into
old planters.... They've turned into Youtube in paper form. And many
of the 'articles' are by Youtube influencers.
But they all wear safety glasses.

Way more than half of it was ads, and much of the rest was ads posing as articles or recommendations. The rest was illustrations of 'projects.' You would have found them amateurish.
