I used to use Filemaker’s sibling, Bento, for my own life, but that got discontinued. I’m just at the beginning of our props inventory so I’m still working it out, but once I get an interface I like, I’ll send y’all the details.
I’m still trying to figure out the best way to easily manage the per-show tracking for all areas (our lighting inventory is shared between our black box space and our proscenium, so, if there are two shows back to back, it is imperative to know what lights are needed where). QR codes and bar codes are both on my radar as solutions.
I purchased the kit from Costume Inventory a few years back so I have barcodes and a scanner. The issue with the Costume Inventory database for me was that it was limited to install on one PC or a LAN, meaning my costume designers would need to still be on site to check inventory for pre-planning.

I’d be interested in seeing how you’re setting up your props inventory, too, if you don’t mind sharing. A former intern set one up at their school using Google tools – particularly, they used QR codes to link to the database which made tracking what was out for a particular show easier.
