Maybe I'm missing something, but if the school likes that software and 
wants to make it available for designers to use, why wouldn't the school 
pay for it's own license that it keeps on hand?

Another idea would be to include an extra chunk of money in the guest 
designer's compensation to cover the cost of whatever software the 
designer wants to use. Make that a standard part of the package.
