<p dir="ltr">I've been using <a href="http://theatricalhardware.com">theatricalhardware.com</a> shackle plates on the bottom rail or near the inside bottom  of the  stile lately. This usually involves a hole in the top rail for the stinger (and thimble) to pass through. </p>

a threaded
1/4" plate embedded beneath the 1x bottom rail and forged eye-bolt through the rail. Or a t-nut into a 5/4 or 2x bottom rail. I've also done top hanging irons bolted to the inside of the stiles, reinforced the bottom corners with flat corner irons.</p>
