You totally can drive the hue and sat as their own subs. The best way I've found to do this is to go into blind and edit each sub individually.

I use the syntax of [blind] [sub] [x] [enter] then I run the hue of the channel up. I'll then make sure the intensity isn't in the sub by typing [x] [intensity] [@] [enter] and then [x] [saturation] [@] [enter] and doing the same thing for each parameter I don't want to be directly controlled by the cue. On the bigger boards there's filters which make this easier.

This is probably the convoluted way to do it, but it works.

Steve,
Yes, you can set an LED wash to a sub on the element.

Select the channels you want.
Set up the look you want, including color, level. Press ML control to set color.
Press record, and then press the button under the sub you want. (You can also press the sub button and type the number of the sub). (The knob at top center of the console needs to be set to submasters).
Clear your selection.
Fader should now bring up the look you set. If the color changes as you change intensity, press sub sub which brings up the list of subs.
Scroll and select the sub you just created, press S2 button, and Change it to an intensity master.
Just did this on my element to be sure it worked.
Let me know if that doesn't work.
Cheers Jim
