And if you don't wash the eggs, they're good for at least a month
sitting on the counter at room temp, maybe longer. As soon as you
wash them you have to refrigerate them as they'll start to spoil.<br>

Since city folks like nice clean eggs, they have to buy lots of
refrigeration equipment to go along with them.<br>
