University Theatre, the production arm of the University of Oklahoma, is a professionally staffed unit that produces 9-10 mainstage productions annually for the Schools of Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre, and Opera.

The University of Oklahoma seeks an individual to fulfill the full time, 12-month position of Scenic Painter/Carpenter. Ideal candidates will assist Scenic Charge Artist in painting drops, and scene painting (base coating, faux finishes, aging, distressing, etc.) and texturing all scenic elements and assist the Scene Shop Coordinator in the building of scenic elements. Candidate will also help oversee the successful implementation of all sets and scenic elements by student workers; help answer questions related to the technical drawings; help enforce safety protocols in the shop. Candidate will participate in and may supervise students in scenic painting, metalwork, fabrication, woodworking and/or rigging and assist with all strikes. Ideal start date is August 3, 2015.
Suitable candidates must:
-Be able to convert painters elevations to full-sized, realized production product.
-Have basic knowledge and experience in carpentry, scene painting, sewing, welding, and/or rigging.
-Have high quality standards and work efficiently with minimal supervision to meet challenges and deadlines
-Have the ability to lead student crews
-Be able to lift 50lbs
-Be able to read drafting and scaling
